description

Building upon the central medallion from Part One, this second version of the Zanjan Diptych unveils the inherent authenticity of the remaining sub-structure. The existing borders and background speak to the space where the medallion once resided.Designed with the medallion’s absence in mind, this section subtly evokes the cubic form previously embedded within it. This return to the carpet’s original dimensions and rectangular form provides a canvas for understanding the connection between the medallion and the rug’s overall structure, all while subtly recalling the implicit presence of that geometric form.Like its counterpart, this piece is crafted with hand-spun wool and features natural dyes, honoring traditional techniques while embracing a contemporary narrative in modern rug design. This unique approach, departing from conventional layouts, underscores the innovative thinking behind the Zanjan Diptych project.
